Farewell EQ2, Hello LOTRO

I've been playing EQ2 off/on (mostly on) since it came out in 2004. And it has been a very fun and exciting ride. I've met many people in game that I consider friends and will miss adventuring with them.

I've hung up my EQ2 boots for now as I cannot bring myself to log in. I'm severely burnt out on EQ2 and have decided to give LOTRO another try.

When I first tries LOTRO (2007), I exclusively solo'd. Solo'ing can only keep me interested in a game for a very short while and I quickly gave up on it. This time around I plan on finding a large casual guild on a high population server.

An online friend suggested that I try using xfire to keep in touch with them and I'll definately look into doing so.

Happy hunting all and I hope to see people in game.

Good to see you blogging again! I hope you find what you are looking for in LOTRO. I know what you mean about being burned out, I've been there before. At this point, I'm not ready to give up on EQ2 myself, though given how little time I have to game anymore, I am on the lookout for something more accessible to a casual player.

Lars! Congrats again on the little bundle of Joy. Kids can take a good amount of your time up. Once they start sleeping regularly it's a little easier to get time to goof off.

I was able to get a founders referal for LOTRO. This get be a monthly subscription price of $9.99 or a lifetime subscription for $199.00. Only catch, I have to use a new retail key. This means I buy the game again. :)

If you buy the Mines of Moria expansion pack it comes with the original game, so you're actually not out any money! Let me know what you think of it. Did you go with the monthly or lifetime?

Currently I'm going monthly, but will be considering the lifetime.

Are you still playing? Make a post comparing your experience in LOTRO compared to EQ2? How is the population? What is the end game like? Monster play?

And if it's still really fun, would you be able to get me a founders referral? :)

Did you ever join xfire? I'm on as 'trevick.'
