Upcomming MMO - Age of Conan
Age of Conan (AoC) is an upcoming MMORPG from Funcom, the creators of Anarchy Online. It promises to be a gory bloody game with scantily clad slave girls to boot. Holding true to their vision of the world created in Robert E. Howard's novels, Funcom plans to release a Mature rated game. So expect a lot of violence and other mature content.
AoC will attempt to balance PvE and PvP, giving each near equal treatment in the game world. It's unique combat system strays from the typical target an click hotbar buttons. In fact there is no targeting in the game. Combat in general should require some skill to be good at it, but not enough to turn off the more casual player. Ranged combat promises to be rather interesting.
AoC is still in BETA so many details are sketchy and are subject to change. For more information be sure to visit the AoC website at www.ageofconan.com
The current projected release date is March 25th, 2008.

I'm afraid "mature" games tend to attract the least mature players. An RP server might be tolerable (since RP servers attract more adults), but who knows. Anyway, when you say the game requires skill, but not so much to turn off casual players, I think that's odd. Most casual players I've talked to think MMORPGs should require MORE skill. What turns us off is when the advancement is based purely on time invested, because we have jobs and quite frankly, grinding is no fun.
Age of Conan and Warhammer Online are both promising to deliver more interactive quests than we're used to, so that's what interests me.
Yea Lars. Though I think the biggest draw for the less mature player for AoC is PvP. PvP tends to draw them in.
I too am interested in AoC.
Another interesting thing is that they're trying to do away with the paradigm of tank/healer/CC, which I like. Heck, even casters aren't all that squishy!
The bad news (or good news from a dev point of view) is that it's been delayed until May...
Madrigan/Madilna
I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while now. I agree with the other comments about the potential for more "d00ds" in a mature game like AoC, but hopefully the richness of the game experience will more than make up for a few bad apples. Here's hoping that Funcom can pull it off. I plan to be there on launch day.
